Frankcina “Fran” Glass was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Her interest in writing began in high school while studying English literature, being tasked with reading classic novels and writing short stories. She wrote Marvin and Tige when she was 19 and felt it was good enough to be published. Fortunately, it reached the desk of an editor who felt the same.
The novel was published in several countries and languages, and it earned the author the Coretta Scott King Book Award for Excellence in Creative Writing. In 1983, it became a movie starring John Cassavetes, Gibran Brown and Billy Dee Williams.
Fran currently works full-time from her metro Atlanta home as a graphic artist and web developer. Besides maintaining websites and writing, she also enjoys portrait drawing.
